Tourism Deptt pitches JK’s tourism potential during Dubai EXPO-2020

In the ongoing Dubai EXPO-2020, the Department of Tourism has pitched strongly for promoting the potential of Jammu & Kashmir as the unparallel and all season destination in the country.Making a case for the tourism potential of Jammu & Kashmir, Secretary, Tourism, Sarmad Hafeez during a presentation before the delegates of the Expo highlighted the salient features, seasonal differentiations and attractions of tourism products offered in the Union Territory. He also shared with them the activities undertaken by the stakeholders and the Department over the past year or so besides the capacity building measures, vaccination drives and other steps taken by the J&K administration for making J&K tourism safer and more attractive to international travellors and tourists.In a series of B2B meetings, the Tourism Secretary enumerated the initiatives taken by the Tourism Department to further broaden the spectrum of tourism products in J&K. He specifically mentioned projection of 75 lesser known and offbeat destinations, giving more push to adventure activities like trekking, skiing, rafting etc. and making a combo of cuisine, heritage and culture for retaining varied categories of tourists.Sarmad Hafeez during separate meetings with J&K’s diaspora impressed upon them to promote the uniqueness of the Union Territory among the local communities there and play their role in promoting tourism to J&K within Gulf and Middle East regions. He said nature has bestowed Jammu & Kashmir with immense potential which needs to be exploited fully for the welfare and prosperity of its people.Director, Tourism, Jammu, Vivekanand Rai and Director, Tourism, Kashmir, Dr. G N Itoo accompanied Tourism Secretary during the meetings.The meetings were part of activities of Dubai Expo 2020. During the Expo several agreements pertaining to infrastructure, real estate, tourism and hospitality were signed.
