Srinagar Police rescues non local girl from forced labour

October 15: Police in Srinagar rescued a non-local girl from forced labour and illegal confinement.

On 12-10-2020, Police Station Rainawari received a complaint from one individual Raju Tanti of Arunachal Pradesh stating that his daughter (name withheld) has been subjected to forced labour and illegal confinement.

Accordingly a case FIR No. 48/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered and special team was constituted to recover the girl.

Acting swiftly on the gathered intelligence, officers recovered the said girl from Nishat area. During the course of investigation two persons identified as Tahir Ahmed Shah and Waqar Qayum both residents of Nishat Srinagar have been arrested.

Further investigation of the case is underway and more arrests are expected.

The family of the girl have appreciated the swift action of Srinagar Police.
