Oct 22 Srinagar UN March: Rising Kashmir leader Mir Junaid condemns local media’s ‘selective reporting’

Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Workers Party President Mir Junaid has lashed out at the local newspapers that did not report the events that took place in Srinagar on Oct 22 to mark the ‘Black Day’ of Pakistan’s brutal invasion of Kashmir on this day in 1947.

The party held a major march in Srinagar against Pakistani invasion of 1947 of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir.

He expressed his disappointment with the local newspapers that are not doing their ‘job sincerely’.

This is total corruption on part of the newspapers. The job of the media is to convey information to the people and any hiding of information which is of significance to the people shows the character of media as biased,” he said.

“The protest march against Pakistan was a first thing to happen over the last 70 years of history of Jammu and Kashmir and the editorial teams of these papers could not find the abnormality and news value in the story is a shocking thing,” read a statement issued by Junaid.

The historical march that took place on 22nd October, 2020 was in protest to the Pakistani invasion of 1947 of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The reluctance shown by local media in reporting this activity makes it clear that the local media is a party to the chaos that has been rampant in Jammu and Kashmir over past thirty years, he said.

This shows that that media is not acting responsibly and in the garb of neutrality is serving the interests of the enemy state of Pakistan, he alleged.

Jammu Kashmir Workers Party said it wants to openly expose this internal bias within the local media houses who through dishonest reporting are acting as hurdles to the information access of the society.

The dishonesty in reporting shows dishonesty in journalism which openly is a violation of journalistic ethics and responsibilities, he said.
