EC Agri Stanzin Chosphel reviews projects under MODI

Leh, Dec 10: The Executive Councillor for Agriculture LAHDC, Leh Stanzin Chosphel chaired an introductory meeting of all the officers of Agriculture Dept. Leh headed by, Chief agriculture Officer Tashi Tsetan and doctors of SKUAST- Leh headed by Associate Director SKUAST Dr. D. Namgyal at Council Secretariat Leh today afternoon to discuss further plan of agriculture and allied departments for implementation of Rs. 250 crore Mission Organic Development Initiative (MODI) schemes in Leh district. The meeting was also attended by Incharge District Statistics and Evaluation Officer Leh Tsewang Namgyal.

Discussing about the Rs. 12.50 crore released already for water harvesting including drip irrigation etc under MODI for Leh distric, EC Stanzin stressed on constituting a cluster level committees at block levels to ensure quality and inclusive results while implementing MODI schemes. To achieve the target of converting Leh district into organic under MODI, EC Stanzin stressed on research institutes based in Leh to work on compost manure in close coordination with all the allied departments so that we could provide enough and good alternative manure to the farmers by replacing chemical fertilizers.

Highlighting the importance of Bio-Control Research Based Lab in Leh to find natural and organic solutions to achieve the target to convert Ladakh into organic under MODI schemes in coming months, EC Stanzin requested officers to suggest and propose project for establishment of Bio-Control Research Based Lab in Leh saying that LAHDC Leh will try its best to arrange funds for the project.

Stanzin also directed Agriculture Department Leh to simplify all the application forms meant for farmers to avail projects, schemes and subsides so that farmers could avail all the benefits easily. Regarding celebration of agriculture day and other important events related with agriculture, EC Stanzin said that every event must be celebrated with the aim to fulfill the significance of such days in future. He also stressed for conducting focus-oriented workshops and trainings for farmers and other field staff in future to achieve goals systematically and to ensure smooth implementation of various projects including CSS and to ensure close coordination between UT Administration Ladakh, LAHDC, Leh and Research Wings based in Leh, he suggested for appointment of a nodal officer.

EC Stanzin also reviewed the functioning of Statistic and Evaluation department and directed Incharge District Statistics and Evaluation Officer Leh Tsewang Namgyal to make a detail evaluation of MODI project and submit the report within two months.
