Leh, Nov 04: Assistant Director Tourism Leh, Jigmet Namgail convened a meeting with the members of All Ladakh Tour Operator Association (ALTOA), Ladakh Mountain Guides Association (LMG) and India Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) regarding the promotion of Adventure and Winter Tourism in Leh district.
The meeting was organised in presence of Principal IISM (Ministry of Tourism) Gulmarg Colonel JS Dhillon whereas the house conversed on various issues like infrastructure development in sports line, to explore adventure destinations, to establish snow-ski slopes, organize/ train snow ski camps among others. The meeting also discussed in detail various aspects instrumental for promotion of winter tourism in the region.
At the outset, AD Tourism talked in detail about the importance of promoting winter tourism in Ladakh, he also talked about the efforts of the Tourism Department to explore the un-named tourist destinations of the region, keeping in mind the importance of its fragile ecology, environment, tangible and intangible factors of the region.
In view of promoting winter tourism in Ladakh Colonel JS Dhillon stressed to develop quality infrastructure and also stressed to run professional quality destinations. He also focused on developing skating rinks in every village with proper equipment and opined for engagement of youth for the purpose. Dhillon further added that the role of the Administration will be highly instrumental in developing high quality and international standard infrastructure in the region and would help to explore more hidden tourist attractive potentials of the region which ultimately affect the overall development of the region and economy as well.
Later, Colonel Dhillon assured that all the issues raised by the stakeholder will be taken up with higher authorities.
