REASI: Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said today that Congress and National Conference ( NC) are playing politics of communal and regional divide by speaking in different languages among different sections of people and in different regions during the District Development Council ( DDC) election campaign.Addressing a series of meetings in far-flung Panchayats during day-long election campaign in districts Reasi and Udhampur, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, in the Kashmir valley these political parties promise to restore Article 370 but the same parties in Jammu claim that they support abrogation of Article 370. Similarly, he said, while in Kashmir valley, they speak against alleged injustice towards the people of valley, but while in Jammu they promise to restore Dogra Raj.On the other hand, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, BJP is fighting this election on the common agenda of development in all the regions of Jammu & Kashmir and among every section of society. We stand by the Modi government’s decision to abrogate Article 370 and say this with full confidence whether we are campaigning in Kashmir valley or in Jammu region or erstwhile Doda district, he said.Accusing Congress, National Conference and PDP of resorting to their old practice of playing the communal card, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, on the other hand, the BJP government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sought to establish a new political culture by reaching out to the needy, wherever it is required, regardless of caste, creed or religion.Referring to various public welfare schemes initiated by the Modi government, he said, while distributing Gas Cylinders, it was never asked what was the caste or religion of the household being benefited from it. Similarly, while constructing a house under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), nobody asked what was the caste or religion of the family for which the house was constructed.Describing the first-ever District Development Council election in Jammu & Kashmir as not only a mere election but a mission, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, Prime Minister Narender Modi has sought to correct an anomaly by empowering the local body representatives at the grassroot level which was happening in rest of India but not in Jammu & Kashmir.

This will ensure prompt redressal of local demands and grievances with accountability, he added.
