Srinagar, 31-Dec;Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid said that as the year ends central Jama Masjid -the religious and spiritual centre of the people of Kashmir, still remains out of bounds for Muslims of the valley for obligatory Friday prayers as it’s lock down by authorities continues .And so does the traditional majlis of Waz-o-Tableegh delivered from the pulpit of this historic mosque for centuries by Mirwaizeen e kashmir , as Mirwaiz Umar Farooq continues to be under house arrest for the third year in a row since 2019. The sorrow and pain this causes to people is unmitigated. In a statement issued to Anjuman said that the mosque has been forcibly locked down for 45 Friday’s in this year , and consecutively for 21 Friday so far .And in the previous five years from 2016 to 2020 Jamia Majid has been locked down for 112 Friday’s. This data puts to shame the forcible closure of the mosque during the periods of worst autocratic rule that Muslims of Kashmir have suffered in the past ! .Anjuman said that people of Kashmir , ulemas and The Anjuman have repeatedly been urging the authorities to allow people to offer Friday prayers in Jamia Masjid and release the Mirwaiz of Kashmir, whose all human rights have been seized , but to no avail . Anjuman once again asks the authorities to stop this grave injustice against the Muslims of the valley and open up the mosque to people and release their Mirwaiz.(CNS
