JAMMU: Jammu University Vice-Chancellor Prof Manoj K Dhar has been given the additional charge of the Vice-Chancellor of Cluster University Jammu as the Government accepted resignation of Prof Anju Bhasin, who quit the top post even before the appointment of new VC.
An order on assigning the additional charge to Prof Manoj Dhar till the appointment of new incumbent, was made by Lt Governor G C Murmu.
“Consequent upon the acceptance of resignation of the vice-Chancellor of Cluster University Jammu by the Competent Authority and in exercise of the powers conferred under Section -12 of the Srinagar and Jammu Cluster Universities Act, 2016, it is hereby ordered that the Charge of Vice-Chancellor, Cluster University Jammu shall be held by Prof Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, in addition to his own duties, till the appointment of new incumbent is made by the competent authority to take over the office of the Vice-Chancellor of Cluster University Jammu,” read the order, issued by Talat Parvez Rohella, Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department.
Pertinent to mention that the Government has already constituted a Search Committee for new Vice-Chancellors of Cluster University Jammu/ Srinagar as tenure of the incumbents has completed in view of the recent amendment in the Cluster University Act, according to which period of the Vice-Chancellor has been reduced from five to three years.
