Jammu:BJP Jammu & Kashmir laid emphasis on the complete political justice to be the benchmark for upcoming “Delimitation” in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir in a Press Conference held at party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.Former Dy. CM of J&K Kavinder Gupta and J&K BJP Spokesperson Adv. R S Pathania (former MLA) addressed the Press Conference accompanied by J&K BJP Spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan and J&K BJP Media Incharge Dr. Pardeep Mahotra. While welcoming in one breath the historic and Herculean endeavour of central government to start the process of delimitation in J&K with the objective of doling out political justice to the and reflecting the political aspirations of people in a more effective way. The most guiding parameter for delimitation commission is political justice with each and every nook and corner of J&K as well as ensuring that almost every ethnic group gets a voice in the next assembly. It is in this very viewpoint that Bharatiya Janata Party, J&K has submitted a detailed memorandum thereby canvassing a roadmap for the delimitation commission in J&K. More so, it is further made clear that we stick to our stand that no doubt population is a parameter/criterion for delimiting of seats but veracity of 2011 census is itself under question. The abnormal increase in population in various districts of Kashmir region and lesser enrollment under AADHAR are sufficient indicators of the fact. A bigger number of non-voters in the population survey of Kashmir unlike in Jammu province have found their names in population survey. That is why, we have tried to make out a case that in addition to population other criterion like geographical compactness, nature of terrain, facilities of communication and like considerations should also be considered. Rather in areas which are hilly and mountainous, the development indicators and area compactness be given paramount consideration so that not only the people of the area but the roads, drinking water supplies, power supply, other basic living facilities spread across the length and breadth of the area do get a fair representation in the Assembly. And, interestedly, same point has been endorsed by the Delimitation Commission while addressing media persons yesterday. More so, we again stick to our demand that out of the 24 seats kept freezed for PoJK, eight seats should be defreezed so as to ensure representation for those people who were displaced in 1947 from PoJK and are putting up in J&K. Although we understand the terms of reference of the delimitation commission but we have forwarded a case before them to make a recommendation to the Bharat Sarkar in this effect. We again reiterate that every idea/demand which ensures political justice for all should be ‘Holy Commandment’ and part and parcel of the report of the delimitation commission.

We further say that this is for the first time we will have political reservation for STs and due representation for SCs should also be properly accommodated in the delimitation commission report. And we further appeal all political parties/pressure groups to come forward and to ensure that at least this delimitation commission does not invite any ire or allegations of any sort of prejudice or bias. And the process become more inclusive and comprehensive.
