Leh: Dec, 10: The Member Parliament Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal along with Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC, Leh Tashi Gyalson today called on Administrator USOF (Head of USOF Administration) Ministry of Telecommunication GoI Anshuli Arya at New Delhi and apprised her about the progress status and issues related with 57 mobile towers sanctioned in the month of February last year under Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) projects in Ladakh.
MP JTN and CEC Gyalson in presence of all the concerned officers said that only seven out of 57 mobile towers under USOF were commissioned so far in Ladakh and works on the remaining 50 towers are very slow and requested Administrator USOF to expedite the installation works of remaining towers. A list of villages and hamlets of Ladakh which are still uncovered under mobile network was also submitted by MP JTN and requested to sanction more towers under USOF to cover such villages so that all rural pockets of Ladakh could get digital connectivity at the earliest.
They also requested Administrator USOF to connect all the USOF towers of Ladakh with OFC as these towers are run through V-sets and has only limited capacity and network coverage range and also requested her to ensure use of high quality bandwidth and high internet speed machineries and equipments through executive agency Jio Reliance. MP and CEC also requested for restoration of all the V-sets (DSPT) in different villages under USOF.
Administrator USOF Anshuli Arya assured MP and CEC for earliest redressal of all the issues related with USOF towers in Ladakh and sanctioning of new towers.
