Hill Council hails Corona warrior for their courage & service in fight against COVID-19
Leh, Dec 08: Keeping in mind the approaching Losar festival amidst steady rise in the COVID-19 positive cases and deaths in Leh district, the Deputy Chairman LAHDC, Leh Tsering Angchuk convened a meeting of all the Executive Councillors and Councillors of LAHDC, Leh at Council Secretariat Leh today afternoon to discuss the role of Councillors in containing the further spread of COVID infection in the district.
The meeting was attended by the Executive Counicllor for Rural Dev. Dept. Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, Executive Councillor for Agriculture Stanzin Chosphel, Executive Councillor for Minority and Forest Gh. Mehdi and almost all the Councillors.
Amidst fruitful discussion to stop further spread of COVID-19 infection in the district, the meeting in one voice highly appreciated the decision of LBA, LGA and various villages to not celebrate upcoming Losar festival this year keeping in mind the possibility of further rise in the COVID-19 cases and deaths in the district and appealed people of Leh district to not celebrate Losar festival or confine the celebration symbolically at their family level only which will help a lot to minimize the COVID cases in the district. The Council members also decided to appeal people to avoid usual meetings with relatives and friends to exchange gifts, huge meals, party, social gatherings – everything which is associated with Losar this year so that we could enter into new year with good health and firm resolution to fight this deadly pandemic and make Ladakh COVID -19 free district in the new year 2021.
The members also decided to appeal the people especially youths to follow Covid-19 guidelines and SOPs including wearing of face mask, maintaining Do Gaz Ki Doori for social distancing and focusing on hand and face hygiene etc strictly and responsibly till the COVID-19 vaccine is developed and vaccinated in the population.
The Council members also highly appreciated the frontline warriors of UT Ladakh for their courage, dedication and selfless service since 8-9 months in fight against COVID -19 in Ladakh and lauded the efforts of frontline warriors including doctors, paramedic, police, sanitary staff and volunteers, who worked day and night in this difficult times.
