Srinagar,06-Apr: Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar on Wednesday said joint team of security forces have started night patrolling in remote villages of Kashmir to prevent militant attacks on soft targets.Responding to a question about militants resorting to soft targets, the IGP Kashmir said that the security forces have intensified the night patrolling in remote Kashmir villages to prevent militants from attacking soft targets out of “frustration’’.Regarding the Tral encounter, he said that two slain militants killed in Tral encounter were involved in the killing of a Sarpanch Sameer Ahmed in Khonmoh besides a series of other attacks including grenade throwing etc. “After civilian and soft target killing, they had moved to Tral. We were tracking them and on specific inputs yesterday, we carried out the raid. Army was called in and both militants were killed”, he said.Asked about recent attacks, he said, “in Pulwama district two incidents happened and poor labourers who had come for work here were attacked. We have identified the militant and very soon he will be neutralized.” In Shopian, he said, a Kashmir Pandit was targeted and “it happened in a remote village”.” We have got leads and very soon we will neutralize him.”He further added that since December last year, 66 militants including Jaish-e-Muhammad commanders and militants were killed in various encounters.“We have seen that 66 (militants) were killed during the winter from December to March and included those from JeM, LeT and many foreigners and out of frustration they are targeting soft targets.
