NIA conducts raids at multiple locations in Kashmir in AL-Qaida case Incrimating documents, digital devices seized

Srinagar, 25-Nov: National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday morning conducted multiple raids in capital City Srinagar and South Kashmir’s district.Sources told that sleuths of NIA assisted by Para-military troopers and Jammu and Kashmir Police raided multiple houses in Wachi area of Zainpora Shopian and Nowgam area of Srinagar district.In Srinagar NIA sleuths raided at the residence of President of the Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society (JKCCS) Parvez amroz at Manchuwa area.However, his family members denied the reports of NIA raid at their residence.Sources added that in Shopian, houses of Peoples Democratic Party, National Conference and Jamat-e-Islami activists were raided and searches conducted. Later some arrests were also made by them.The houses raided by the investigation agency include Mohammad Sultan Kumar, son of Habib Kumar, M Shafi Shah, son of Abdul Ahad Shah, Mohammad Shaban, son-in-law of Ramzan Kumar and Rashid Shah, son of Sabir Shah.Pertinently, few days ago NIA arrested renowned human rights activist Khurram Parvez under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act- the arrest evoked sharp criticism by human rights organisations and political parties at International level, for which a social media campaign for his release has also been launched.In a statement issued to NIA conducted searches at 5 locations in connection with investigation of NIA Case RC-02/2021/NIA-LKW (Al- Qaeda Case Lucknow, UP).”The case pertains to Umar Halmandi, an Al-Qaeda operative, who along with other accused persons, had been radicalizing and recruiting vulnerable persons for AQIS (Al-Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent) and trying to raise Ansaar Gajwatul Hind (AGH) to carry out militant acts for which they had already arranged arms and explosive substances”, reads the statement.The case was initially registered as FIR No. 10/2021 dated 11.07.2021, PS-ATS, Uttar Pradesh and NIA had re-registered the same as RC-02/2021/NIA/LKW, on 29.07.2021.During the searches conducted, large number of incriminating documents and digital devices have been seized.Meanwhile, Further investigation in the case is continuing.
