Kashmir: 2 terrorists, who killed 5-year-old and CRPF jawan, gunned down in Anantnag encounter

Srinagar : Security forces on Tuesday gunned down two terrorists in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The encounter broke out at Waghama area of Anantnag on Tuesday, police said.

Speaking to India Today, Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh said, “Two terrorists, who killed a CRPF jawan and a 5-year-old boy three days back at Bijbehara, have been eliminated.”

The Jammu andKashmir Police identified one of the terrorists as Zahid Daas of Jammu KashmirIslamic State (JKIS), who was involved in the attack on a CRPF patrol at Bijbehara. Police had also registered an FIR against him. The identity of the second terrorist is yet to be established.

The Army said an IN SAS rifle and a pistol were recovered from the terrorists. “No collateral damage, operation over,” the Indian Army was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. A minor boy and a CRPF jawan were killed on June 26 when terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on a CRPF patrol in Anantnag district of south Kashmir.

The boy was travelling with his father for some personal work when he was hit by bullets fired by the terrorist at Padshahi Bagh bridge in Anantnag’s Bijbehara area.The target of the terrorist, belonging to the Jammu Kashmir Islamic State (JKIS),was a road opening party of the CRPF, the officials had said.
