Budgam Police arrests 3 gamblers, stake money seized

May 28: Acting tough against social crimes, Budgam Police have arrested 3 gamblers from a gambling site and seized ₹5500/- stake money.

Acting on specific information, a police party from Police Station Khag raided a gambling site in village Hardu Suresh Khag following an input about gambling activities and apprehended three gamblers. They have been identified as Abdul Sattar Sheikh son of Ghulam Rasool Sheikh, Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh son of Abdul Sattar Sheikh and Mohammad Yasin Sofi son of Ab Rehman Sofi all residents of Peth Sharen Khag.

Officers have seized stake money of ₹5500/- and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to Police Station Khag where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 38/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Khag and investigation has been initiated.

Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
