Rajouri, Aug 19 : A militant and an army officer were killed in the ongoing encounter in Thanamandi area of Rajouri district on Thursday, officials said here.”One JCO of the Rashtriya Rifles had suffered bullet injuries in the encounter. The JCO was immediately evacuated to the nearest medical facility, but he succumbed to the injuries,” defence spokesperson Lt. Col Devender Anand said.Meanwhile, an official said after the reports of suspicious movement in Alhaal and Karyote Kalas area, cordon and search operation was launched on Wednesday, which later turned into encounter on Thursday morningEarlier, SSP Rajouri, Sheema Nabi Qasba said that the gun fight is still on and updates will be shared accordingly. “On specific information a joint operation was launched today early this morning by the Police Army and CRPF at Thanamandi, Rajouri.
