Govt. Issues Disposal Permit to Quarry Holders, Allowed to Resume Operations

Srinagar CNS, July 6: The Quarry holders on Tuesday had a sigh of relief as they were allowed to resume work after the government issued a disposal permit in their favour. Earlier the government had imposed blanket ban on the in quarrying across the Kashmir Valley while quarry holders in different parts of Valley especially from Khrew, Mandakpal, Baithan, Zaintrag, Pantha-Chowk Athwajan and from Sadderkot from North Kashmir’s Bandipora were demanding lifting of the ban and were registering their protests frequently.While confirming the permission by concerned authorities President Himalayan Quarry Association Muhammad Maqbool said “concerned authorities have issued a disposal permit in our favour and from tomorrow we will start our operations”.He however added that quarry holders are only allowed to collect, load and ferry loose material that is still lying near quarrying sites.The quarry holder, transporters and workers have hailed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Principal Secretary Geology and Mining Manoj Kumar Devidi for allowing it to resume operations.
