Kulgam , Aug 9: A case of medical negligence involving a middle aged patient took place at District Hospital (DH) Kulgam, when a patient from South Kashmir’s Shopian was injected with expired glucose due to which he started vomiting and felt unbearable pain.Shabnum-sister of the patient while talking to said that it is a glaring case of negligence that could have cost the patient’s life and claimed that no doctor came to help even after calling them multiple times.She further mentioned that the hospital administration has ignored the patient even after repeated complaints by his attendants.The case involved Ayaz Ahmad Lone, son of Ab Ahad Lone, resident of Sedow Shopian with Registration Number 366 and MRD number 23879 was admitted at the District Hospital Kulgam for Gallbladder removal surgery.Immediately with starting of post surgery treatment when patient was shifted to post recovery ward, he was injected with expired glucose due to which the condition of patient worsened and nobody came to their help even after repeated pleas by his attendants “My brother was given expired injections. Today morning, we checked its expiry date and we all got shocked to see that the expired glucose was given to my brother” said Shabnum, a visibly upset sister told news agency on Monday.It was only after the patient’s condition did not improve that the family realised the negligence on part of the medicos.When contacted Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kulgam Dr Muzaffar Ahmad in this regard, he said, “I have already issued the explanation regarding the medical negligence and further action shall follow”While Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din said that he will look into the matter as yet it has come into his notice.
