Central team inspects Watershed Development Projects in Udhampur District

To take the stock of the ongoing developmental works being executed under Integrated Watershed Management Programme(IWMP), Additional Secretary, Department of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development Department Government of India, Hukum Singh Meena today conducted day a long tour of District Udhampur to review the watershed development projects- PMKSY here on Sunday.Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib, ADC, Mohammad Syed Khan,Regional Director Survey Land records,Udhampur Nawab Din and other officers/officials.During the tour, the Central Team visited the Gantwal watershed project, where the Additional Secretary inaugurated rain water harvesting tank in presence of Dr Bharat Bhushan, Chief Executive Officer, State level Nodal Agency (SLNA) and Project Manager, IWMP, Udhampur, Sapna Kotwal.On reaching at Gantwal watershed, the watershed committee members and general public of the area welcomed the Additional Secretary.At the outset, the Project Manager gave a brief description of the IWMP works and highlighted the achievements in the district. She informed that since inception of the programme in 2013-14, around 1007 Natural Resources Management and Entry Point Activity works have been completed till September 30, 2021 across six sanctioned projects of the scheme.The Central Team appreciated the efforts of IWMP project Manager for her dynamic vision and sincere efforts to make a programme a great success in district Udhampur. Meena also interacted with watershed committee members.The public appreciated the efforts of Project Manager, field staff for effective implementation of the programme enabling them to get maximum benefits.The Additional Secretary said that the main objective of conducting this visit was to review the progress of implementation of developmental schemes on the ground and their impact on the local level.Later, the Additional Secretary also inspected data centre Udhampur and get feedback about the progress of the digitalization and computerization of land records in the District.
