To spread mass awareness about Covid safety measures, District Udhampur Administration has roped in prominent public figures to encourage the people to follow Covid appropriate behavior.The move is part of various containment measures taken by the administration to contain the transmission of COVID-19 disease in the District Udhampur under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Indu Kanwal Chib. The DC appealed to the people of the district to follow the standard operating procedures (SOP) in the wake of rise in Covid-19 cases in second wave in the District. The DC said that there is an urgent need to follow all the Covid-19 mitigation measures in letter and spirit as the situation is deteriorating day by day. In her appeal, the DC said that the need of the hour is to make usage of double mask, maintain social distancing at all places besides other Covid SOPs avoid unnecessary crowding to prevent further spread. While sharing the block wise data of vaccination in the District, which is still low at 65%, the DC once again appealed to the people of the District to come forward and get themselves vaccinated against Covid 19. The DC informed that the District Administration has also started mapping exercise of positive/ suspect cases in the District. Apart from this the prominent figures of civil society and religious heads of District Udhampur repeatedly appealed to the people and motivated them to follow SOPs especially the use of face masks and adopting social distancing. They stressed upon the need to adhere to Covid related SOPs issued by the government from time to time.On behalf of Rural Development Department, Assistant Commissioner Development, Mushtaq Chowdhary appealed the general public especially Muslim community to come in front and get vaccinated against Covid-19. He said that the vaccine is safe and secure and it is not nutrious in nature and does not break fast observed during Ramadan. Vice President MC Udhampur Surinder Singh Khalsa, through his message, expressed concern on the rising number of covid 19 cases in the district and exhorted the people to follow the lock down measures properly and do not come out of their houses. Khalsa urged upon the public to take this deadly virus seriously and religiously follow all the covid 19 SOPs and to get vaccinated. Similarly, Chief Medical Officer Udhampur K. C Dogra stressed on a ‘three point’ formula to the general public of Udhampur to combat the Covid 19 pandemic first to wear proper mask, secondly wash your hands frequently with soap or use hand sanitizers and thirdly keep social distance of at least 2 meters and in this way we would save ourselves and our society as well. Medical Superintendent District Hospital, Vijay Raina, also appealed people to adopt Covid-19 appropriate behavior. Dr. Vinod Gupta and Dr Deepak Koul urged the common masses to come together and stop the second wave of Covid-19. He appealed to the public to wear face mask, wash hand frequently, and keep social distancing and get Covid-19 vaccine. Meanwhile, LDM SBI, Udhampur, Ramesh Kumar Raina also appealed to the bank customers as well as general public of the District to use digital platforms for their financial transactions receipts and payments like ATM, Mobile and internet banking etc. Prominent Christian religious head, Dr Bishop Thomas impetrated general masses to strictly adhere to Covid-19 SOPs and show cooperation with District Administration for breaking the chain. Likewise Zonal Incharge, Sant Nirankari Mandal Zone Udhampur, B P Singh also in a clarion appeal appeal to the public, urged everyone to follow Covid protocols like washing hands and maintaining social distancing. He also assured the cooperation of Nirankari organization to the administration in covid mitigation efforts. Vinay Jandial, President, Pingla Mata Akhand Jyoti Committee, Ramnagar appealed the public to follow government-issued COVID-19 protocols. Dogri Artist, daughter of the soil, Sars Bharati too appealed to the general public not to take this virus lightly, and follow govt COVID-19 protocol strictly. Imam Jama Masjid, Ramnagar appealed to the general public of district Udhampur to adopt Covid-19 appropriate behavior.
