To promote sports culture in rural areas, the district administration Rajouri has allotted 426-Kanal state land for development of playfields at Panchayat level under the Khelo India Campaign.The Khelo India programme has been introduced by the central Government to revive and promote the sports culture in India at the grass-roots level by building a strong framework for all sports played in the country and establishing India as a great sporting Nation. District Development Commissioner, Rajesh K Shavan informed that 426 Kanal and 14 Marlas state land has been transferred to different Panchayats of eleven blocks of the district for the development of the playgrounds.He said the lack of playgrounds and other sports related infrastructure in the Panchayats is an impediment in the way of effective implementation of the khelo India scheme on ground level. especially in rural areas and the development of the playfields, the playing facilities would be made available at the doorsteps of the youth.”Ensuring maximum participation of youth in sports activities, their development, welfare and addressing their issues is the priority of the District Administration Rajouri and all possible efforts will be made in this regard”, the DDC said.The DC said that during his tours to different blocks of the district, the main demand of the youth was development of sports infrastructure at the Panchayat level.”The DDC said that such steps would continue to be taken in the future to facilitate the youth of the district in order to channelise their energies in a positive direction.
