The inferno which has been raging at the picturesque Dzukou valley since 29th December last year is under control. This was informed today by the Divisional Forest Officer, DFO Kohima, Rajkumar. He said a big team work was in action to prevent the spread of fire to the valley. The DFO said, ground operations were carried out by Nagaland Police, Forest Department, NDRF, SDRF and SAYO Volunteers. He also said that Kohima police has set up a control room at Dzukou entry point at Viswema village and two relay stations are also set up in resting shed and in the Dzukou base camp to maintain seamless communication with ground operations team. In the Bambi Bucket operations, the Indian Air Force also deployed four Mi-17 helicopters from Dimapur and Rangapahar towards dousing the fire in the valley. The IAF choppers today dropped 24000 litres of water with 12 shuttles. The IAF mission will resume tomorrow. Meanwhile, Indian Army and Assam Rifles also joined hands with IAF, NDRF and state agencies in providing all possible support in dousing the wildfire in Dzukou Valley. Army is also providing its aviation base for launch of Bambi bucket operations as well as other logistics support to Indian Air Force, thereby augmenting the air-effort. Senior Army officials also had a meeting with the state administration for better synergy in the ongoing efforts.
