    Srinagar, 19-Nov; Gurpurab Was celebrated across Kashmir valley with religious fervor today.The main function WAS held at Gurdwara Chatti Padshahi at Rainawari.Special arrangements were put in place by the Sikh community at the Gurdwaras where Sikhs both men as well women thronged since the wee hours and participated in special prayers today.Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has extended warm greetings to the people of J&K on the auspicious occasion of PrakashParv of Guru Nanak Devji.In his message, the LG said, “Guruji’s life and his message of love, compassion, equality, peace, and brotherhood continue to guide humanity to this day. As a tribute, we must resolve to follow the path laid down by him to strengthen the bond of amity, integrity, and mutual goodwill among people.”National Conference President and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah also greeted people on the auspicious occasion of the birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj.Greeting people especially the Sikh brethren on the auspicious eve, Dr Farooq said, Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj stood against the scourge of caste division, and religious discrimination. He voiced for the oppressed and underprivileged. I greet people especially our Sikh Brethren on the observance of the birthday of the revered Guru Ji Maharaj . May this day increase the prospects of peace and brotherhood in J&K and elsewhere in the country,”he said.In his greetings on the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birthday, Omar Abdullah said, “His universal teachings for an honest truthful and virtuous life continue to guide humanity. His message inspires us to embrace equality and compassion,” he added.People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti, also extended greetings with the hope that the holy occasion would bring peace, progress and prosperity and further bolster secular traditions and brotherhood, which have been unique features of J&K’s glorious past.
