JAMMU: Twelve ASHA workers have lodged a complaint of sexual harassment by their In-charge doctor prompting government to set probe in this connection.Mohammad Iqbal Lone, Under Secretary, to the Government Health and Medical Education Department vide letter No HME/HRM/K/06/2020-1 has written to the Chairperson, Satvir Kaur Sudan, Director General (P&S) to hold the probe against sexual harassment by doctor Jatinder Mehta (NHM), J&K, Jammu.He even asked the Chairperson NHM to place the complaint before Internal Complaint Committee of H&ME.Official sources said that ASHA workers have lodged a complaint to the Commissioner Health and Medical Education Department Atal Dulloo and informed him about the sexual harassment by Dr Jatinder Mehta.In a complaint, copy is in possession of The News Now, the women workers have alleged that Dr Mehta who is ASHA Incharge, forwarded porn videos and naked pictures to them.They informed Dulloo that the “accused” doctor even made video calls to them and started dancing naked adding that the matter was brought to the notice of the seniors but instead taking action they allegedly threatened them of putting their incentives on hold.Sources said that the doctor had also offered women staff a stay for night in a hotel.Showing muscle power, the doctor threatened the staff of having close terms with senior police officers and bureaucrats including the Chief Secretary of JK UT.”His bad character has ruined our family life”, the complaint have lodged.The ASHA workers have even lodged a complaint with the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam.
