PIB, ROB organize webinar on ‘Indian Constitution’

JAMMU: Press Information Bureau (PIB) and Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB) here organized a webinar on ‘Indian Constitution; Role and Relevance’ to commemorate the Constitution Day. Addressing in the webinar, A.K Verma, (Retd) District and Sessions Judge, High Court of Madhya Pradesh said the Constitutionalism is the key principle which is important for successful democracy. Devpreet Singh, Addl. DG, North Zone, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said that Constitution is an evolving document as evident during these pandemic times. She further added that the webinar will promote enriching dialogue on the constitutional ethos and its role in the current times. Neha Jalali, Deputy Director, ROB J&K and PIB said the awareness about the provisions of constitution and rights as well as duties needs to be widely promoted amongst the people. She further mentioned about the ideals of freedom fighters and constitution makers which led to evolution of the constitution and how it acts as a guiding document to the people of India. Jalali said that the constitution is a living document and holds relevance in every facet of the society. Kritika Agrawal, Advocate on Record, Supreme Court of India said Supreme Court of India plays a vital role in understanding and interpretation of the Constitution. She also mentioned that the justice delivery system is utilizing the technology to adapt to the challenges been brought up by the Covid-19 pandemic. Saubhagya Bhadkaria, Asst. Professor, National Law Institute University, Bhopal said that Constitution is a living document and keeps evolving to accommodate the changing features of Indian society. Suraj Wazir, Advocate, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir said constitution is the soul and spirit of the nation and democracy and accommodates the diversity in India. He mentioned about various articles and amendments which have become applicable to J&K after it has became Union Territory. The Webinar was attended by various government officials, academicians and university students and NCC cadets. The academician and students shared their opinions during the interactive session. The webinar was moderated by Abhishek Kumar, Asst Director PIB Jammu.
