Amid Covid-19 lockdown, the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, after starting an online training program to keep athletes fit for competitions, held a series of meetings to discuss the modalities for resuming the sports activities soon after Covid restrictions are lifted.Secretary JK Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull held a series of meetings in the last couple of days with several representatives from the recognised sports associations, and discussed the modalities about the preparation and resumption of the sports activities as soon as Covid restrictions are eased.Gull while speaking with the news agency KNO said in view of the corona lockdown JK Sports council started the online pre-recorded sessions in twenty disciplines by the qualified coaches of the council, which is being uploaded in a phased manner on social media channels of JK Sports council which includes Youtube, Twitter and other social platforms.“The purpose of the online program is to keep the athletes and coaches intact to their sports, so that they are ready for competitions and events as soon as the pandemic situation improves. Around 20 qualified coaches of JK Sports Council from different disciplines have been aligned for the training sessions,” she said.Gul said the sessions are of basic level which will be further taken to intermediate and advanced levels and there are around 130 video sessions which will be released in a phased manner, and will be accessible to all.While talking about the future course of action, Gul said after the Covid situation improves, sports activities can resume.”However the registered sports associations have been asked to submit the data of the athletes so that their performances are evaluated and associations have been further directed to submit the sports calendar plan which can be worked after the stabilisation of Covid-19,” she said
